ERE and Sunday School updates
ERE will start on September 18, 2024 at 7:00pm  and Sunday school will start on September 22, 2024.   Registration is now open and if you register before July 4th you will entered into a drawing for either free tuition or a reserved parking space.

Preschool Religious Education, or Sunday school, starts September 22!
WHAT?  Sunday School is a religious readiness program for young students to help them begin their faith journeys by learning about God and his love for us.

WHO?  Preschoolers 3-5 (potty trained), kindergartners, and 1st graders.

WHEN?  Sunday mornings during the 9:45 a.m. Mass. Classes start in September and run through April.

COST? Every student is $70 with a maximum per family of $200.  You can pay below on our new “Online Giving” site after you register.

Interested in being a catechist?

• Volunteer catechists co-teach classes so they teach every other week.
• Simply check "yes" on your child's registration form and fill out the catechist application on the left side of this page.  Then after it is submitted, Terri Kerley will get in touch with you about what you want to do and where you may be needed.

Elementary Religious Education (ERE) starts September 18!

WHAT?   ERE, Elementary Religious Education, is a religious education program for students who do not receive Catholic edcuation at their school. ERE classes explore living out our Catholic faith in God and continue to build a relationship with Jesus as we learn about our Church, its beliefs and traditions.
We try to make it different from school by using games, activities, crafts, skits, prayer and other fun ideas!
WHO?   Grades 1-8 meet on Wednesday evenings.
WHEN?   Wednesday evening programs meets most Wednesdays from September until April from 7:00 - 8:15 p.m.
COST?   Every student pays a fee of $70 with a maximum per family of $200.  Second and eighth graders pay a fee of  $100 per student due to the added retreats and sacramental preparation for these years. You can pay on our new “Online Giving” site after you register.
OPTIONS?  We will have three options this year and will reevaluate this process at the end of the year. Please read carefully and mark which one you are chosing on the registration form.  You will be asked to check:

1. FULL TIME STUDENT - These students will come to class each week and use the text book selected for their class. If they are not able to attend due to sickness or other commitments, they will have the book with them to complete the missed work at home. There will be a calendar letting you know which chapters will be covered each week.
2. FULL TIME STUDENT WITH CONFLICTS: These students know that they will miss some classes because of other commitments but would still like to be connected to the class and will come to class when they can. It is expected that you come to at least 60% or 15 out of the 26 classes. They will have a syllabus and must keep current with each chapter that is covered.  However, many of the activities, discussions, and projects done in class will be missed if the student is not there. This is not an option if you will be playing a sport for St. Columban, since you must attend class or complete the online portion of the Homeschool program. If there is mulitple stretches of time that you will miss like two months in the fall, two months in the winter and then start spring sports, you should choose the homeschool program.
3. HOMESCHOOL- These students will complete the program at home with the help of their parents or complete it by themselves if they are older. They will use a text book that has an additional online component. This option will cost $40 per each child or $75 for 2^nd and 8^th graders.  Those playing a sport at St. Columban who choose this option must complete the tests online or the packet of written tests to be eligible for the sport.

Sacraments: If your child is in 2^nd or 8^th grade, they will receive more information about the sacraments in October.

Catechists are volunteers who teach the classes. Many return each year, but we are always looking for new people who may be interested. Please sign up on the registration form, or fill out the catechist application in the box above on the left side, if you are interested or want more information about teaching or being a sub.
 

How do I register?  

• Complete your registration form below for each child. 
• Payment of $70.00 per child is also required. For 2nd and 8th graders the total is $100 per child.  There is a maximum price of $200 per family.  Payment can be made through our “Online Giving” after you register.
• Registration is accepted year-round for families who are new to our parish or have recently moved here.
