SafeParish™ TRAINING: PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN FOR ADULTS
St. Columban Parish and School comply with the Decree on Child Protection including background checks for all employees and volunteers as well as fingerprinting for employees.. All employees and volunteers must also be current with their SafeParish quarterly training.
All Parish Volunteers/Employees: New Child Protection Platform - In July 2021, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati moved to SafeParish as the new platform for child protection training and compliance. SafeParish is an organization that specializes in training and education solutions for organizations world-wide. SafeParish will continue to work with our current background check provider - Selection.com. All training and background information in your current, active, VIRTUS account will be transfered when you register for SafeParish. You must register for a SafeParish account to continue to work and volunteer at St. Columban and within the Archdiocese. Please see SafeParish registration instructions in the left column of this page.
No new live training through SafeParish will be required if you have completed live child protection training through VIRTUS. Ongoing child protection training will still be required for all volunteers and employees and will consist of quarterly interactive video-based training instead of monthly bulletins.
New employees and volunteers will need to register for a SafeParish account and complete the background and training requirements. Registration instructions can be found in the left hand column of this page.
Please contact Christy Hamm, Safe Environment Coordinator, at [email protected] for information.
Note: New volunteers are no longer required to be fingerprinted. Rather, when a new volunteer registers with SafeParish, during the registration process he/she will be directed to a website (Selection.com) for an online background check. The background check costs $25.00. The parish is happy to supply a parish paid FASTRAX token to cover the cost of the background check.
IMPORTANT: Please email Christy Hamm ([email protected]) BEFORE you begin the SafeParish registration process. She will issue you a FASTRAX electronic token (a 7 digit alpha/numeric code) by return e-mail. The FASTRAX token is much like a “coupon code” used in a shopping cart at checkout at an online merchant. For security reasons, FASTRAX tokens cannot be issued over the phone. The FASTRAX token must be used by the parishioner requesting the token.
